Apprentice Artist Program: Opera Roanoke's premiere young artist program launched successfully with our critically acclaimed, sold-out production of Madama Butterfly in March 2011.
Carefully selected from our region's colleges and universities, Opera Roanoke Young Apprentice Artists sing supporting roles, form the core of the Opera Roanoke Chorus, and work closely with our musical staff and professional guest artists. Apprentices also have intern opportunities in artistic administration and other "behind the scenes" roles in opera production, from assistant stage managers to costumes, props and lighting assistants.
This innovative program gives aspiring opera performers, artistic administrators and production crew leaders invaluable experience at the professional level while enhancing their education and preparing them for the next stage of their careers. Contact Young Apprentice Artist co-director Amy Cofield Williamson [email] for more information about the Apprentice Program.
